copping to it: guest post + giveaway by Ava Meyers

When I started writing my first erotic romance, Copping To It, I had a specific scene in mind even before I had the whole plot fleshed out.  It involved a good guy having to pretend to be a bad guy having to “force” the heroine to pleasure him.  Of course, the backdrop of this situation is that the heroine is only doing what she’s wanted to do all along.  For most of us, the opportunity to experience over-the-top pleasure without having to “take responsibility” for any negative repercussions that might normally come with it doesn’t happen very often.
When that pleasure gives way to deep and complex feelings of love and empowerment, all the better. To me, that’s what erotic romance gives readers—a chance to explore and enjoy certain scenarios that are otherwise inaccessible to the average woman.

In Copping To It, Claire Fullerton has fought her basic nature for a long time because she doesn’t want to be judged or ridiculed for it, especially by Ty Williamson, the honorable cop she admires.  Rather than risk disillusioning him, she breaks things off, but can’t help trying to catch glimpses of him when he’s not looking.  Suddenly, she’s thrust into a world of illicit and biker gang initiations where she must, upon threat to her well-being, sexually satisfy Ty in public.  Although she might normally have resisted the idea, it’s when she sees Ty’s unwillingness to use her in this way—his willingness to fight the other gang members in order to keep her safe—that she decides to give in, both to what the gang leader is demanding and what she’s desperately craved for so long.  What’s sexier than a romantic hero who can accept a woman for all that she is, and even push herself to grow wings and fly higher?  In my opinion, not much!

Here’s an excerpt I hope you’ll enjoy:

Somehow, Claire Fullerton had managed to perfect the appearance of being a “good girl.” No one, absolutely no one, suspected what she feared most—that she was a bad girl to the core. All they saw was the dutiful daughter and responsible reporter who provided citizens with important information. They had no clue she was a reckless hedonist who sought out lifeʼs darker elements for sheer vicarious thrills.
At least, they hadnʼt until now.
“Let go of me!” Claire twisted and pulled, straining to escape the bald man with overblown muscles and a long jagged scar bisecting his right eyebrow. Her efforts were futile. With ease, he pulled her out of the small abandoned trailer just on the outskirts of Guardian property, which sheʼd been staking out for the past two days. Her patent leather flats slid against the pebbled dirt as he dragged her toward the dilapidated warehouse that served as his gangʼs headquarters.
“I told you I just took a wrong turn.” The lie fell easily off her lips. Too easily. Even so, the man snorted, the sound clearly emanating disbelief.
He shook his head. “Give it up, Fullerton. Weʼre gonna teach you to mind your own business the Demon way.”
The statement should have had terror zipping through her veins. She knew, after all, that the man — Jed Randall — was the Demonic Guardiansʼsecond-in-command and an ex-felon to boot, one with a string of robberies behind him. Still, she could admit — if only to herself — that what she felt wasnʼt fear but rather an odd sense of anticipation.
Despite the gangʼs reputation for violence and their prior threats against her, she knew they wouldnʼt really harm her unless they got the green light from their hardened leader. Thankfully, Brad Hoyt wasnʼt here, and Claire felt fairly confident Randall wasnʼt the type to hurt a woman or let others do it either. Not unless they had reason to…
From her hiding spot, Claire had watched illicit drugs flow freely but sheʼd seen no evidence of violence by the gangʼs members. Their primary mission had been an unabashed commitment to everything sensual and sexual. If it felt good, a Guardian did it. As to whom he did it with? Well, plenty of women had been shuttled on and off the property, and consent hadnʼt once seemed to be a problem. From what Claire had seen and heard, the women had thoroughly enjoyed themselves, prompting her to feel more than one pang of envy.
