review: american vampire by Jennifer Armintrout

If you don't get lost, there's a chance you may never be found.  - Author Unknown

American Vampire
Graf, a vampire, is on his way to Washington D.C. to party with his maker Sophia and the rest of his fanged friends when he gets lost. trying to find his bearings, he sees a gas station and stops only to find a woman inside hiding and cowering in fear. suddenly, the building is viciously attacked by It - a monster from hell. he rescues Jessa, drives away and leaves her by the side of the road. continuing his journey, he realizes that he is going around in circles. with daylight coming, he sees no other alternative but to go back to Jessa. reluctantly, she allows him to spend the night at her place. Graf's stay, however, stretches into days as he gets stuck in a town filled with secrets he wished he never knew or wanted to be a part of.
Jennifer Armintrout's unique approach to vampires and monsters is brilliant and plausible. her fans will surely devour this book with gusto. the setting, plot and characters are perfectly blended to create an engrossing story.
i advise you then to take some time off should you decide to keep Graf, Jessa, Derek and the folks at Penance company. questions, surprises and twists will keep you hanging on every page. as you get comfortable and settle down to read, have your choice drink and snack at hand.
American Vampire was definitely an enjoyable read for me. i just pray and hope though that i would never get the chance to visit a town similar to Penance. not now. not ever. read the book if you want to find out why.
