21 Book Lovin Bitches Ebook Tours review: the blood moon of winter by Courtney Conant

"Did you notice, there's blood on the moon tonight?" - Bloodmoon (1977)

The Blood Moon Of Winter
Lilyana Makay prefers the company of her books and her sister's children. she would rather stay home than go out on dates even on a weekend until she meets one of her favorite authors in the flesh - handsome Jason Caurns. they go for a ride on his bike on Christmas Day and the events that follow will change Lily's perception of what is real and fantastic as she is transported to a dying world. in this other dimension, only Lily as the reincarnated Goddess of Makayra could save it.
author Courtney Conant's premise of an ordinary woman with a destiny beyond her wildest imaginings makes this book an interesting read. her protagonist Lily sounds so average - just another lady going about her daily routine and keeping things simple in her life. little did Lily know about the task that she was really born for.
i liked how the writer wove and connected the events that would transform Lily into someone extraordinary. i also loved the author's descriptions of enchanting Makayra and Lily's striking tattoo. what bothered me though was how accepting Lily was of her new role. there was not much struggle or confusion on her part. i found her too calm. even her willingness to leave everything and everyone behind in exchange for a title in a strange new world was not a typical reaction.
perhaps everyone in his or her own way is marked for greatness. maybe Lily was waiting for her chance and when she did, she took it hook, line and sinker.
i was also surprised by an erotic scene. i have no problems with it. it is just that it caught me unaware. if it were not included or if it were toned down a bit, this book would have reached a wider audience especially younger readers.
The Blood Moon of Winter, however, was still a good read. i hope the sequel turns out well.
