review: i am Tama, lucky cat by Wendy Henrichs & illustrated by Yoshiko Jaeggi

“By associating with the cat one only risks becoming richer." - Sidonie Gabrielle

I Am Tama, Lucky Cat
somewhere in the snow-capped mountains of Japan, a white bobtailed cat with unusual markings shows up at the door of a rundown temple where a monk teaches Buddha's ways to poor farmers. he welcomes the cat and names it Tama. concerned about the people's welfare more than his own, the Buddhist monk ignores the rumblings of his hungry stomach and his sufferings. he wants more food, warmth and comfort for the temple's worshipers and for the cat and Tama vows to help his new master.
author Wendy Henrichs brings to life an inspiring and endearing Japanese legend of the Lucky Cat. beautifully illustrated in watercolor by Yoshiko Jaeggi, this book is great for the whole family and a wonderful addition to one's library. it is a good story to read to children which introduces them to the beauty and exotic world of the East.
feline lovers and anyone who loves animals would definitely appreciate Tama's tale. even those who prefer dogs would look at cats with different eyes.
this one is definitely a keeper!
