26 Book Lovin Bitches Ebook Tours review: fallen from disgrace by Mindy MacKay

If you decide to kill, the only difficulties will be the external ones.  Nothing inside you will ever protest. - Martha Stout Ph.D., The Sociopath Next Door: The Ruthless vs. the Rest of Us

Fallen From Disgrace
after being comatose for a year, Rosella Cartwright wakes up with no memory of who she is. when she is released from the hospital, she wonders why people shun and fear her company. through newspaper reports and the gradual return of her autobiographical memory, she discovers the atrocities she has committed. as she integrates herself back to society, she learns more about the darkness that was her world and wonders if the light at the end of the tunnel will remain closed to her...
hypnotic, gritty, twisted and chilling are but some words to describe how i regard this story. author Minda MacKay shatters and endangers our peaceful world with the presence of her main character. she dares to invite us to peek into and probe the mind of a sociopath.
what goes on inside is not for the faint-hearted.  descriptions of torture and other heinous acts are found yet they are integral to the story. after all, it deals with an individual who has no conscience. despite the dark theme, however, it is also about love, hope and redemption.
i really liked the development of all the characters and how their roles and interactions were played out. the writer kept the number of her players to a minimum but each had a significant contribution to the whole plot.
my only major niggle is that Rosella's sister Euphemia who "cracked the most twisted operation of her career as a police detective" and who "read over the case files" failed to know that her boyfriend Kyle was one of Rosella's victims! how could Euphemia not have seen that piece of information?  how could she not have known? maybe i missed it somehow but this was a huge bother for me.
nevertheless, this book kept me reading late into the night. unmindful of my nook getting heavy in my hand, i could not stop until i found out how it concluded and boy, was i in for a big surprise!
