review: hide'n go seek by Dale Mayer

“When the will of man comes across the will of God, one of them has to die.” - Anonymous

Hide'n Go Seek
Kali Jordan has inherited The Sight from her grandmother. she is able to see around her traces of violent  energy emanating from victims of murder. now orphaned and living comfortably off her inheritance, Kali spends most of her time doing search and rescure operations all over the world with her faithful canine companion Shiloh. her success rate in rescuing victims has caught the ire and jealousy of a twisted killer who invites her to play a deadly game of Hide'n Go Seek.
this is the second book in the Psychic Visions series and it just gets better. in Tuesday's Child (Psychic Visions #1), we meet Samantha Blair who experiences the physical and emotional trauma of the victims herself whenever she goes into a trance. now, author Dale Mayer introduces another heroine. unlike Sam, Kali does not bear the marks of the victims on her body. her abilities and the way her visions come to her are entirely different. they both have someone in common though. dashing and enigmatic Stefan is back and he also provides Kali support in understanding and enhancing her psychic abilities.
both books, however, are independent of each other and can stand alone. i just like the fact that the author has provided a connection between the two novels through Stefan and that the protagonists in the first book were mentioned.
another thing i love about this second book is that the killer's identity is never revealed until the last few pages. i was absolutely surprised to find out who and i never saw it coming. the way the author lined up a list of suspects and created scenarios to either make the reader eliminate or incriminate one or two was a stroke of genius.
a word of caution: one should never start reading Dale Mayer's books at midnight! i promise you, you will not stop until you get to the end. you might lose some sleep like i did but it is so worth it.
Hide'n Go Seek is a sure-fire entertaining thriller and comes highly recommended!
