"She is the only one of her kind, he is her last hope"

Scarlett Paige is just a regular teenager until her parents suddenly decide move to back to America after living in England for the past 17 ½ years. Thrust into a new school, a new town and a whole new way of life, things can't seem to get any worse until her 18th birthday arrives.

Her world as she knows it is irrevocably changed by a set of life threatening complications when she discovers her true identity. That she is The Phoenix the only one of her kind, a hybrid human being with supernatural powers beyond mortal imagination. But she is untrained, and unable to use her mystical powers without guidance and training from The Seraphoenix Angels.

Worse still, two mysterious and powerful Angel brothers are looking for her. One to save her and one to kill her, who will win?

Scarlett finds herself amidst a battle that’s been waged since the beginning of time, as she discovers the disturbing truth that Angels aren't always good! One brother has a terrible plan to rid the world of humanity, while the other strives to save it and Scarlett is caught smack in the middle as both the Angels need her Phoenix powers to accomplish their goals.

Will she become a pawn in their schemes, as she is thrown into total chaos and plunged into an entirely different future and one that is utterly unexpected?

There are fatal consequences she never saw coming. Beings she never knew existed, and homicidal demon creatures that she wished never existed at all, are conspiring to change her life forever!

Scarlett Phoenix’ is the jumping off point for this exciting new YA PNR series -  The Seraphoenix Saga.

'Scarlett Phoenix'
The Seraphoenix Saga Book I
by Bella Harte

Scarlett awoke from a deep dreamless sleep; the thick sheets had been surprisingly comfy on top of the rock bed. She stretched slowly with a groaning yawn.
Leo was beside her. “Are you alright?”
She nodded vaguely rubbing the sleep from her eyes.
“We have to go soon,” he said returning to the chair, a dangerous glint encompassing his iris’s alerted her to his finely tuned state.
“I need you to know something,” she said quickly sitting up and grabbing her warmed boots, putting them on and deftly tying the laces.
He shot her a questioning glance.
She got up and crossed the room before her nerve failed her. He’d moved the chair into the farthest corner. She crouched down beside him and held the back of the chair for support, she felt him suddenly stiffen and noticed his clenched fists gripping the edge of the seat. His knuckles turned white and his jaw tightened.
“I do remember you and everything we experienced,” her voice was soft and forgiving as her hand tentatively slid across the velvety cashmere coat to his shoulder. “But you just have to see it from my perspective. I know you from long ago but I don’t know you from this life… it scares the hell out of me…”
He nodded, head bowed. “I know…” his voice was strained and his eyes were tinged with sadness.
Scarletts fingers tightened on his shoulder as he tensed, as if ready to move. “My mind is bursting with all these new memories, and your allure is so utterly mesmerising, completely irresistible…” her voice faltered as she grappled to find the right words. “Your pull is deliriously magnetic… my mind hazes… I can’t think… I forget to breathe…” She edged closer as he leaned nearer, their skin almost touching. “I can’t think of anything but you… your scent, it… it drives me crazy…”  her sultry tone was almost husky. “You are driving me insane…” She felt the heat surge as his cool lips skimmed along her smooth cheek, hesitating at the corner of her mouth. She tried to speak, but she could barely breathe as she tried to fight the overwhelming craving for the feeling of his lips, the more she tried to resist the harder it pulled her back.
Scarlett relented and turned a fraction towards him, her breathing was shallow and fast as her yearning lips connected fully with his. Her fiery passion ignited instantaneously as it exploded within every atom of her being.
Leo ripped away from her, gasping. A disconcerting red flicker passed hungrily across his eyes as he bit his lip trying to suppress his wanton desire.
“We have to go,” he said abruptly, his voice almost low growl. “Now!”
Scarlett took a deep breath, the raging inferno subsiding instantly by his sudden coolness and she slowly stood up. Carefully retrieving her clothes, which were dry after a night on the hot rocks and she stuffed everything in her bag. She quickly put on her warmed coat, and fastened it securely, followed by her hat and scarf.
Swinging her bag securely into place she ducked under the lintel and followed him silently through the filmy vapour. He veered off to the right, behind another large cactus crystal and headed into a narrow gloomy shaft, an arm-spans width. He opened another battered door with rusty hinges and waited for her to pass through before closing it fully with a dull thud.
Leo strode off and was quickly enveloped by the darkness. His location was only perceptible by the sound of his footsteps in the shallow water trickling along the rocky duct. He turned every so often, waiting silently in the dark for her to catch up, before his familiar splashing strode off ahead.
It was impossible to tell how long they had been walking when she realised that a low rumbling growl had replaced the sound his footsteps. Reaching out, her hand skimmed the slimy wet wall and she instinctively hurried closer to him as the panic erupted. She tried to keep up with him as a sudden apprehensive feeling of dread and eerie foreboding gripped her mind with razor sharp talons.
The rumbling was getting louder. She was stopped dead in her tracks as Leo was blocking her way in the dark. He tugged her sleeve to the left and she turned to see a pin prick of light in the distance.
She breathed a sigh of relief, as she could see more clearly in the growing light. The bright dot grew bigger and bigger as the minutes ticked by, and the rumbling was a massive roar as they neared the end of the rocky passage. There was a magnificent waterfall concealing the cave mouth to the outside world with its heavy curtain of falling frothy water.
The enormous force of the rushing water plunging down with inescapable power was terrifying. Scarlett could see Leo nearing the edge, the cool and clear spray splashing him as he cautiously beckoned her closer.
“Ready?” He shouted above the deafening noise avoiding her fierce stare.
Scarlett pointed at the plummeting wet curtain. He nodded his expression indecipherable.
She shook her head resolutely. “I’m not getting wet again. Not a chance!”
He shrugged. “Don’t you trust me?”
She shrugged in reply, shouting. “In all honesty at this precise moment in time, I’m getting a really bad vibe and I’d like to explore an alternative solution.”
His incredible wings unfurled as he strode towards her. “Put your arms around my neck and don’t let go!” He instructed, blatantly ignoring her plea.
‘Doesn’t look like I’ve got any choice,’ Scarlett thought miserably as she looked this way and that for another method of escape.
Conceding, Scarlett cautiously wrapped her arms tightly around his neck, her fingers nearly touching the shimmering feathers. She tried not to notice his ambrosia’s aroma by focussing on his wings as they curved into a dense white downy umbrella.
Leaping without warning, they were falling with the flow of the water, gravity forcing them downwards at an unprecedented force. Scarlett kept her eyes tightly shut as they plunged down, Leo finally breaking through the wall of water sailing into the sky just above the trees. He searched for a clear spot and landed immediately, releasing Scarlett the moment his feet made contact with the ground. He leapt away, watching her expression intently.  Then glanced up in torment, as the light began to fade.
