"They like to eat little girls," explained Bruno.
"Have you ever ..." began Polly, then she trailed off.
"Never. Only sheep and goats."
Polly relaxed a little.
"But I'm a boy," Rufus pointed out. "And one tried to eat me!"
"Trolls eat little boys but they prefer little girls. To a troll, a boy tastes like a savoury dish, such as a pie or salad. But little girls taste like pudding, such as chocolate brownie, an ice cream or a jelly."
Polly shuddered.
